Microb Source

Natural Source Of Microorganisms

Growing plant carry a typical flora of m/o on their surfaces and maybe become contaminated from outside sources. The inner healthy tissue of plants and animals, however, has been reported to contain few living m/o or none. M/o from various sources are indicated in table below:

Green Plants and Fruits The natural surface flora of plants varies with the plant but usually includes species of Psuedomonas, Alcaligenes, Flavobacterium, Micrococcus and coliforms and lactic acids bacteria. Bacillus species, yeast and molds also may be present. The number of bacteria will depends upon the plants and its environment. AnimalsHides, hoofs, and animal's hair contain not only larges number of m/o from soil, manure, feed, and water but also important kinds of spoilage m/o. The skin of many meet animal may contain micrococci, stapilococci, and beta streprococci.
Sewage When untreated domestic sewage is used to fertilized plant crops, there is a likelihood that row plant food will be contaminated with humas pathogens. In addition to the pathogens, coliform bacteria, anaerobs, enterococci and etc. can contaminate foods from this source. Natural waters contaminated with sewage contributes their m/o to shellfish, fish and other seafoods. SoilThe soil contain the greatest variety of m/o of any source of contaminations. Soil contains various of molds, and yeast as well as higher bacteria such as actinomycetes and iron bacteria.
WaterNaturals water contains not only their natural flora but also m/o from soil and posibbly from animals or sewage. The kind of bacteria in naturals water are chiefly species of Psuedomonas, Chromobacterium, Protues, Micrococcus and Basillus. AirTotals number of m/o in a food maybe increased from the air, especially if the air is being used for aerationof the products.Molds spores, because of their small size, resistance to drying are usually present in air. Yeast, are found in most samples of air.
